ISO 22000

Food Safety System

Continually improve your business with the international food safety system

The ISO 22000 standard is an internationally recognized system that deals with food safety and correctness, and is integrated with the previously known ISO 9001 standard.

Food correctness is measured by the percentage of health-hazardous substances in it at the time when it goes into the body. Since harmful substances can get into food at any time during its production, it is clear that there must be adequate control of its quality throughout the whole process. In order to achieve this control, a joint cooperation of all those involved in food production is needed.

The ISO 22000 standard specifies which requirements are necessary for establishing a successful food safety management system and relies on the following elements:

  • Prerequisites for its establishment;
  • System quality management;
  • Principles on which HACCP is based.

All these elements have previously been critically analyzed and tested by many scientists and experts. Communication throughout the food production process is essential to identify all harmful and potentially hazardous substances, and preventing them from coming into any contact with food that is being placed on the market. Also, communication with customers and suppliers in relation to harmful substances and their control helps to meet their requirements and needs.
